Lincolnshire & Rutland Public Sector Compact

Working together to address the challenges that face the public sector in Lincolnshire & Rutland

The mission of the Compact is for the public sector organisations in Lincolnshire and Rutland to work together to address the particular challenges that face the public sector in the two counties. These include; (i) issues associated with recruitment and retention affected by rurality, (ii) low level of skills in some public sector organisations and (iii) difficulties in ensuring that the sector is responsive to the changing population profile in Lincolnshire and Rutland.

Next Meeting

The next scheduled meeting of the Compact Steering Group Meeting is to be held on Friday 12th December 2008. The meeting will be start at 1000 at the East Lindsey District Council Offices in Manby. As always, new members are welcome. Interested ? .. email chris@donkinitex.co.uk

Next Event

The next major Compact Event will be an event to advise sector organisations of the initiatives that are current to promote graduate recruitment. The event is provisionally booked to take place at the Admiral Rodney Hotel in Horncastle on Friday 30th January 2009. Further details will be posted on this page when they are known. If you want to make sure that you will be involved contact the Compact Facilitator Chris Donkin via email: chris@donkinitex.co.uk

Apprenticeship Update

Nationally, 26% of employed people work in the Public Sector, yet only 10% of apprenticeship programmes are accessed by sector employees. The challenge is to narrow this gap.

To meet this challenge, get yourself an Account Manager from Job Centre Plus. Contact Gill Kellett via email - gill.kellett@jobcentreplus.gsi.gov.uk . Alternatively visit the Apprenticeships web site at : http://www.apprenticeships.org.uk

Skills Pledge

The Skills Pledge is a voluntary, public commitment by the leadership of a company or organisation to support all its employees to develop their basic skills, including literacy and numeracy, and work towards relevant, valuable qualifications to at least Level 2.
